How To Create an Animation Using Photoshop CS4

Good evening! This blog post for today is a "How To"! Finally right? Well this is a quick and easy how to like my other one, but you get to create an animation. For animations you can create anything like icons for websites or a story. But honestly, if you really wanna make a good animation, go use Flash.

This one, since I'm not very good creating characters, I just created an icon for my DeviantArt page.

Step 1: Open Photoshop (Note: Not all Adobe Photoshops, like Elements, will have Animation).
Step 2: Using pixels create a 50x50 document (you can go higher, but DA for icons is only 50x50).
Step 3: Chose a color for a background for the icon. Can be any color. I chose black because it goes along with the Bane photo that I later use.
Step 4: Create a new layer and click on the typing tool. You will have to change your size of the font, it may seem pixelated, but it will work out.

Step 5: After creating your first layer, click the eye of the layer so its not seen.
Step 6: I'm creating a heart, you can just skip this step,if you just wanna go right to the animation part.
Make sure that your other layer is off, and click the paint tool and change the color and size, and bam! you have your paintbrush to paint your design.
Step 7: Time for animation! Go to Windows, and then down to Animation. A bar at the bottom of the document should show up saying Animation.

Step 8: When you create the animation I believe it will show an icon of what is on your board. In order to get just one thing you want, in my case the "I", make sure every other layer except for the background color and the "I" Layer are eyed off.
Step 9: After step 8, you just press the duplicate frame button, which looks like a new layer button. It will duplicate the same frame how many times you click it.
Step 10: Then for different frames you eye off the previous layer and then put the eye on for the layer that you want.
Step 11: After that, you can change the speed of the animation under the frame. It will give you several different numbers and an option to make your own.
Step 12: Save as a PSD file, and then if you want to post it on the web go to File > Save for Web & Devices.
Step 13: You will come to a window like this, and if everything is to your liking just press SAVE.
THE END

Mini Photo Shoot

So my friend and I did a small photo shoot today, at Greeley Park in Nashua. When I say small I just mean me and her. We were hoping for two others, but they couldn't make it. Anyway it was hot out, and I was wearing layers of clothing. I wore a black spandex shorts underneath the skirt, because the skirt is too short, a sports bra underneath a nonsleeve thick turtleneck, and a jacket type thing with no sleeves but it has a cape. Luckily I had brought water with me!

We both had fun taking photos of each other. My friend went as Dave from Homestuck. Don't ask me what it is, because I barely know what it is. If you do know what it is, you probably were at Anime Boston this year, because there was a WHOLE MESS of them! Anyway, here are some photos.

The Amazing!

Well earlier tonight, I went to go see Spider-Man, and I loved it! :) The only thing I did not like was the kid sitting next to me who kept moving and he spilled his popcorn...twice... I just wanted to say "hey kid, stop moving please."

Anyway... As an early Happy 4th of July, I shall give you presents! A few photos!

My dad had bought this scanner that scans negatives for photos and slides, so I had some of my negatives scanned! I'm going to be posting the ones that are copyrighted towards my DeviantArt name. Which is LittleNeonLily.

Future of the New

Sweet, Jesus...

It's been awhile since I've been on this thing. I guess I really don't have much to say or do on it. I know I said I would be posting techniques with photos... Let's just say I'm not doing to well on that. Anyway, I just recently (and recently I mean like five minutes ago) bought myself a wireless shutter button for my camera. Do you know how hard it is to find one that will actually work with my Nikon D3100? They have ones that like work for every one except the one that I happen to own. And Nikons site only has a wired one, which I do not want! I also bought the Avengers album, the one with various artists. I could have gotten the MP3 format, but they didn't have a few songs...

I start college this fall! I will be attending New Hampshire Institute of Art, located downtown Manchester, NH. Not a big fan of downtown, but I like the school. Not love (yet), like. I was originally going to go to Chester, but nooooo they decided to got into bankruptcy. And they were going to go to New England College, a college that doesn't even really study in the art field. See NHIA is close to home, cheaper, and is a school for art.

Speaking of NHIA, today I went back there to take an accuplacer test. I did okay... I thought I did better than the computer graded me on my essay. I got a 4 out of who knows what number... then the math was mostly average. And they served Panera Bread for breakfast, dear lord, I haven't had it in awhile. My sister used to work there and she would bring home a giant bag worth of delicious goodness, but then she quit and went to go work at a bank with no delicious goodness. And for lunch, they had it from their cafeteria (I think), and dear god was that delicious. Then ice cream, which we had to walk downtown in order to get, I was sweating... Not fun. Not fun at all.

As soon as I got home, I immediately took a nice cold shower. And my dad bought two new ACs. One for the upstairs, and the other for the main floor. I'm in the basement, so all I get is my fan. Which is fine, when the days want to be nice to me. Since I haven't uploaded any photos in awhile, I think I'll do it now. Enjoy!

Post Anime Boston

On Saturday, April 7th 2012, me and a couple of my friends attended Anime Boston, the 10th year anniversary! :) I had so much fun! I cosplayed as Lightning from the game Final Fantasy XIII. Her costume had its ups and downs, especially if you needed to use the restroom, which you basically have to strip. And the boots! The were comfy at first but wearing them over 6 hours is hurtful! I got a damn blister from them too! and they weren't cosplay boots they were my normal everyday boots! D: And around 10 at night, my legs began to kill. The next morning, it hurts to walk, and my shins felt like my bones were going to just rip out of my skin. DX

Anyway, I took over 300 photos, and at least 10 videos from the convention. I posted the images on my deivant art page. You can view them here: Anime Boston 2012

I am currently adding the videos to Youtube, and I will post them here when I have them all done.

But I shall leave you with this photo of me! :)

Smucker's Jewel Box Cookies

Instead of doing a photo or whatever. I am going to tell you how to make cookies! Why? Because their delicious! You can find the recipe off of smucker's website (that's where I got it from).

Ingredients:
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons for All Purpose Flour
1/3 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of butter SOFTENED. (Take it out a few hours before you bake).
1 large egg yolk, beaten.
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/4 cup of your favorite jam or preserves.

Directions:
1. COMBINE:
Flour and sugar in a large bowl. Cut butter with a pastry blender or two knives until coarse crumbs form. Add beaten egg yolk* and vanilla. Mix Until dough holds together.**
2. SHAPE:
shape into small balls using half teaspoonfuls (I don't do that. I just make random size balls). Place 1-inch apart on cookie sheet. Make small identation in center of each cookie. Chill for 20 Minutes (put it in the Fridge).

3. HEAT:
Heat oven to 350 degree F. Fill each cookie with a scant 1/4 teaspoon of jam, jelly or preserves (I don't do that either. I just put how much I think is enough). Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until just golden around the edges.

*For those who don't know how to get just the egg yolk, you crack it over the sink and let the non yolk parts drip. You might have to touch it and pull it off. When you think it's done dripping put the yolk in a small bowl and beat!

** When mixing, you can either do it by hand or use a electric mixer. I use the electric mixer because it makes its a lot faster to make the dough type thing into crumbs. When you shape them, you are going to think that your doing it wrong (or at least thats what I thought anyways...), but just play with the dough when until you get nice rounded balls.

And that's it! Quick huh? Oh yeah... Prep time is 20 minutes, and cook time is 12 minutes. It supposedly yields 6 dozen, but I usually just get around the 20s even when I double the recipe. Maybe it's because I don't use half teaspoons... hahaha... Anyway. ENJOY!

Happy New Years

Happy New Years my fellow readers! It's 2012! Wow. Soon I will be out of high school and on to college life. I have no resolutions because I can never keep them. Although I do wish to find that special guy this year, but I highly doubt that, but a hey a girl can dream! I know I don't do much photo tips, I'll see what I can do this year.
